How does postage work?

I do! I just can't add a standard price on the items on my website. If you let me know what item(s) you're interested in, I can get a postage & packaging quote for you.

In order to get a quote for you, I'll need both your email address (for invoicing) and your postal address (so I can get the postage quote to where you want it to go).

Most things that I have posted so far tend to be between £3 and £10 and I prefer to choose the insured options - I have faith in the postal services but I'd rather have the extra security there.

Provided you're happy to proceed, once paid I'll finalise the postage and send it out to you with a tracking link/number.

If you've selected the postage option in an order, I will need to get back to you with a quote:
✔️ If you are then happy to proceed, I'll invoice the remaining postage to you and when paid I'll post it off! If it is a larger item, it may take a little while if I don't have adequate packaging.
❌ Otherwise, I will refund your order in full.

PLEASE NOTE: There are occasions with international postage where unexpected fees arise, whether this is custom, carrier rates or something else. I have no control over these and I won't be able to cover them. Please take some time to look into international postage into your country and what you might expect.

What are the terms and conditions for purchasing and using gift cards at Glenns Antique Shop?

Gift cards are a convenient and flexible way to gift one or more of our many varied products from Glenn's Antiques, Collectables & Curiosities without actually having to pick out a particular item. Here are the Terms & Conditions:

1. **Purchase & Denominations**: Gift cards can be purchased in various denominations directly from our website.  The range is between £10 - £200 value

2. **Redemption**: Gift cards can be redeemed only at our online store and are not valid for physical sales (i.e. at events). If your purchase exceeds the value of the Gift Card, the remaining balance must be paid by cash / card / PayPal etc. Please note that the value of Postage & Packaging is not included in the cost of an item unless physically stated. More information about Postage & Packaging and how it works can be found by clicking here.

3. **Expiration**: Gift cards expire 24 months from the date of purchase. Any remaining balance after the expiration date will be forfeited and cannot be refunded or redeemed.

4. **Non-transferable**: Gift cards are non-transferable and can only be redeemed by the original purchaser or recipient.

5. **Non-Refundable**: Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.

6. **Lost or Stolen Cards**: Glenn's Antique Shop is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unauthorized use of gift cards. Please treat your gift card like cash. If you think that your gift card has been accessed, please let us know by emailing GlennsAntiqueShop@gmail.com. Proof of purchase and/or identity may be requested.

7. **Balance Inquiry**: To check the balance of your gift card, visit our website or contact us at GlennsAntiqueShop@gmail.com.

How does the free in-person item collection work?

At the checkout select the In-Person collection option.
 
From there I'll send you an email with an address and we can arrange a time where you can pick up your item(s).

Do you take offers for items?

Try me, although I'm an independent trader as it were. Please don't try to take advantage, I try to price my items carefully.

Question 5

Some things are clean, others aren't. What gives?"

With some things there is a certain charm or desirability for originality, wear or patina.
 
One instance is coins - most collectors (not all!) consider coins to be damaged once they're cleaned.
 
I'll clean some things up to a degree but never do anything to knowingly make something less desirable. It's individual choice at the end of the day so I'll leave those few items for the future owners to decide what they want to do.

Does your shop have a minimum spend?

No - although when testing I did find that card payments were a minimum of £1 (I didn't set this and I don't think I can override it)
 
This may be the case with PayPal too but I can't say for sure.

Question 7

What's the number in the pictures by your items?

Accepted Answer

The numbers that look like 00/000/00 are my notes to match a photo with a paper trail. It's commonly referred to as an SKU, or a Stock Keeping Unit in general retail (not that I knew that when I was setting up shop).
 
Basically it's an individual number for a specific item, sort of like a barcode but I'm not that fancy.
 
My own numbers have the meaning (using 01/002/03 as an example):
 
01 - The first notebook I use to jot down notes
002 - The second page of the notebook
03 - The third line of the page
 
This code is used throughout the entire buying / selling process to keep tabs on things.
 
Essentially 01/001/01 was my first item and it goes on from there. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's the order of appearance in my shop though!

Question 8

How does the Local Item Delivery work?

In the checkout, select the Local Delivery option (Only applicable to locations within 10 miles of Sutton-On-Sea, Mablethorpe).
 
I'll send you an email to arrange a time for delivery that's good for both of us and I'll bring your item(s) to you!

I ask £1 for this just as a small return on the petrol used. I quite like driving so I'm not too worried about my own time.

Question 9

What's your stance on returns?

I get it - sometimes something just isn't for you or something just isn't working right. I try to capture any important information and details in the photos and text descriptions.
 
Typically antique shops don't accept returns, although a lot of them aren't online. If something is faulty (undescribed), give me a chance to take a look at it and if you still don't like it, I'll have a good think...

If it is something that is quite clearly evidenced, I won't be able to offer a return.
 
'Sold as seen' is a usual antiques policy for some reason, and I should probably follow that lead.

Question 10

Why don't I see some items/categories on your Facebook shop?

When adding some items, they breach Facebook's terms. This means that some items I need to keep for this website exclusively.
 
Some of the disapproved items are:
Coins, Banknotes & Cheques (even if they're no longer in circulation or were made for commemorative use)
License plates (even if they're from abroad)
Vintage smoking memorabilia (even if some brands don't exist anymore)
(also some items get blocked for having a brand associated with them, such as some lighters and sunglasses on the shop)
 
On top of that, the Facebook shop doesn't include the level of functionality that the website has in terms of filters by year/country etc.
